Soap or shower gel? Which is better? Why Nohabe soaps?

Finding out more about soaps.

What is a soap?

Soap is a cleansing agent created by the chemical reaction of a fatty acid with an alkali metal hydroxide. Chemically it is a salt composed of an alkalimetal (sodium or potassium), and a mixture of carboxylic acids. The cleansing action of soap comes from its unique ability to surround oil particles, causing them to be dispersed in water and easily rinsed away.

Soap or shower gel?

Although shower gels are highly effective at cleaning the body, without stripping the skin of its protective barrier, the skin benefits will vary depending on the formulation. Most of the liquid soaps and shower gels are containg SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) which is known to irritate and dry out the skin, and parfume and colorants which can also cause irritation.

Traditional soap bars tend to be made with skin-drying ingredients, and usually have a high pH, but it also will vary depending on the formulation. The advantage of the higher pH is that it makes easier to remove the dead skin from the top of the skin, which allows your skin to breath normally. Soap can be also a perfect choice for those wanting to cut down their use of plastic bottles.

It is important that you chooose a good formulation doesn't matter if it is a shower gel or a soap.

Nohabe soaps

#Nohabe soaps are fullfilling your needs if you decide to use them. All soap recipes are made by myself, all are #vegan and free of any kind of artificial additives such as preservatives, colorants or perfumes. Non of the soaps contains palm oil as it is very important for me to protect the environment. All soaps are superfatted, which means the soap bars contain free fatty acids which will nourish the skin, and protect it from overdyring.
